2019 Professional Development Workshop: Leadership Skills for Success in the Scientific Workforce

Today there are more women working in the sciences than ever before, yet women are still underrepresented in leadership roles. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for women across scientific disciplines and career levels to build their leadership and management skills.

This 2.5 day workshop is intended for people who identify as women and are employed in the sciences, especially those employed in scientific agencies and scientific organizations. Two workshops of similar format and content will take place the week of November 4th, in Boulder, CO.  Workshop I will take place November 4-6, 2019 (arrival on Nov 3rd; suggested departure late afternoon or evening Nov 6th); Workshop II will take place November 5-8, 2019 (arrival on November 5th; suggested departure late afternoon or evening Nov 8th). Each workshop will accommodate up to 50 women, and each participant will only participate in one of the workshops.

Workshop topics include understanding your own strengths and weaknesses, strategies for effective communication, team building to promote motivation and trust, guidance in giving and receiving feedback, articulating your personal value, and strategies for identifying and overcoming challenges to becoming a more effective leader.

Registration for the meeting will be $100; most meals will be included. We are working on raising funding to provide all local accommodations and some travel support, however, it is possible that this will not be available.
