NEW!! ESWN Discussion Board

If you’re a long time member of ESWN, you’ll recall that we had a very active online discussion board on the ESWN website. For a number of reasons, we had to disable this component of ESWN membership. The main factor was the daily monitoring to fend off cyber-bots from hacking into the system.

If you’re new to ESWN, you may not know what we are referring to and may only be familiar with our very active Discussion groups via Facebook. The Facebook Discussion group is NOT going away! In fact, we are intending to be more inclusive and offer additional ways for ESWN members who identify as a woman to engage in online in a closed-group discussion (especially for members who choose not to use social platforms like Facebook), we are excited to bring back a new and improved community discussion board.

A few points about privacy…

The discussion board will “sit” on the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Connect space. AGU has been a long-time supporter of ESWN and has graciously agreed to help us out by offering the use of their well-developed platform.

We have a privacy clause with the AGU and all activity of this discussion board will be led, monitored, and managed by ESWN. In fact, we will institute a policy where if an ESWN member would like to join the discussion board, ESWN forum moderators will send you a direct link to join. As part of joining you will have to create a login and password. If you are already an AGU member, then you can skip this step! You do not have to be an AGU member to join and participate in this discussion board. We wish to emphasize that there will be no outsiders to ESWN participating in our space (as outlined in our Memo of Understanding with AGU).
