ESWN Leadership & Volunteer Recruitment 2026
ESWN is thrilled to announce that we are recruiting for newest leaders of our organization. ESWN’s Associate Board of Directors is composed of co-chairs of four committees that are critical to the success of our organization. For positions starting July 1, 2026 we are accepting applications through May 25, 2026 for:
- Professional Development & Networking (2 positions)
- Communications (2 positions)
- Development & Stewardship (1 position)
In addition to these leadership roles, we are also accepting applications for volunteers to serve on each of our committees.

ESWN Associate Board of Directors Roles
As a member of the ESWN Associate Board of Directors you are a critical leader in the organization in developing and implementing our programs. This is a volunteer role that generally requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per month. Specific information about each role we are recruiting for is provided below, but general expectations for all ABD leaders includes:
- Attending monthly ABD Meetings (~1 hr/month)
- Following and responding to communications on ESWN Slack & email (~1-2 hr/month)
- Meeting regularly with committee co-chair and volunteers (~1 hr/month)
- Working on Committee tasks and projects (~2-6 hr/month)
Leadership roles on the Associate Board of Directors are generally 3-year terms, evaluated annually, and able to be renewed.
Applications for ABD positions will be open until May 25, 2026, and are available for each role here:

We will conduct brief interviews with candidates in June, with a start date for new ABD members of July 1, 2026.
ESWN Volunteer Committee Members
As a member of one of ESWN’s Committees you help to conduct the business of the committee and bring new projects and ideas to life. Volunteer commitments can be variable but are generally 2-5 hr/month. General expectations for volunteers include:
- Attend committee meetings and maintain communication with committee chairs (~1-2 hr/month)
- Assist chairs on Committee tasks & projects (~1-3 hr/month)
We are currently accepting applications for volunteers for all of our committees:
- Community Engagement
- The goal of this committee is to recruit new community members and facilitate sustained and meaningful interactions between community members, to grow and sustain ESWN and its service to the broader community.
- Professional Development & Networking
- The objectives of this committee are to: develop, implement and organize professional development content based on the needs of ESWN members; provide opportunities for ESWN members to offer their expertise and gain valuable leadership skills by leading virtual and in-person sessions; recruit knowledge experts to contribute time and relevant intellectual resources to the ESWN community; and collate and disseminate a database of professional development resources.
- Communications
- The goal of this committee is to facilitate internal and external communications to build awareness of ESWN activities, facilitate knowledge and information exchange, share insights to strengthen member knowledge and expertise, and promote the visibility of women in the earth sciences.
- Development & Stewarship
- The goal of this committee is to secure financial resources to support ESWN’s mission, programs, and growth. By leading strategic fundraising efforts, fostering donor relationships, and ensuring transparency, the committee strengthens ESWN as a self-sustaining organization.
