The Earth Science Women’s Network is recruiting volunteers to serve in leadership roles and on our committees! If interested, please fill out the below survey by 31 April 2024.
ESWN’s mission is to support the scientists of today and welcome the scientists of tomorrow. ESWN aspires to transform scientific culture and institutions to advance justice, equity, inclusivity, respect and community. Our enduring goals include cultivating community that promotes our values, nurturing careers through access to a range of role models and professional development, empowering ESWN members to grow and strengthen ESWN and its mission, and engaging and supporting relationships across earth science sectors to enhance our community. Membership is free and open to all.
We are looking for volunteers to serve in leadership roles on our Associate Board of Directors, chairing or co-chairing committees for Development & Stewardship, Communications, Professional Development & Networking, and Member Engagement, as well as volunteers for each of these committees. For more information on our activities and the responsibilities of these committees, please look over our strategic plan: https://eswnonline.org/welcome/eswns-strategic-plan-2021/

- Member Engagement: Recruits new members and facilitates sustained and meaningful interactions between members (e.g. ESWN discussion group, member spotlights), to grow and sustain ESWN.
Associate Board of Directors can expect to participate in a monthly ABD meeting and additionally chair or co-chair a committee which may involve holding monthly committee meetings, provide collaborative leadership for committee planning, implementing projects and events, and coordinating volunteers. Estimated time commitment for Associate Board of Directors is 5-10 hours a month.
Committee volunteers can expect to participate in a monthly committee meeting, and additional time spent implementing committee projects and events. This may fluctuate based on our activities and your schedule. Estimated time commitment for committee volunteers is 2-5 hours a month.
We strive to empower everyone on the team, and there will be opportunities to develop new events or activities and provide input to ESWN as a whole. Our goal is to create a collaborative environment for us all to work towards our common goals.
