Statement From ESWN
We are living in deeply troubling and challenging times — when racism and social inequities are ever so present, and continue to perpetuate in our society. The Earth Science Women’s Network recognizes that these events are unfolding in a context where people of color continue to be subjected to systemic injustices based on the color of their skin. We acknowledge the frustration, exhaustion, and pain felt by our Black and African American community members. We stand in solidarity with our community members during this extremely difficult time. It is especially important in such times that we all reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. We must support each other as we continue to confront and combat racism, discrimination, and harassment — in our work environments as well as in the world around us. We can only advance if we advance together.
